The popular and sandy beach of the city of Rethymno stretches for 13 km. east to Scaleta. It is well organized with lifeguards, various water sports (water skiing, jet skiing), sports activities (such as beach volleyball), umbrellas, sunbeds, changing rooms/showers, café, snack-bar/restaurant, etc.
